SAVAGE REPRISAL

MASSACRE IN BELGRADE FOLLOWS ASSASSINATION OF GESTAPO CHIEF. ABOUT 700 PEOPLE KILLED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) RUGBY, July 14. Major Helm has been assassinated, according to information reaching the Yugoslav official quarters in London. Major Helm, who is Chief of the Gestapo in Yugoslavia, was shot while walking along a street. In reprisal the terrible Gestapo agents fired at people walking on the main square of the capital and about 700 persons were killed.
