HORN ISLAND

ANOTHER JAPANESE BOMBING ATTACK NEAR NORTH QUEENSLAND. ONLY SLIGHT DAMAGE DONE. (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, July 8. Japanese heavy bombers yesterday attacked Horn Island, in Torres Strait, above the northernmost tip of Queensland. They caused only slight damage. This is revealed in the latest communique from the Allied headquarters, which states that .16 enemy planes dropped their bombs from a high altitude. Horn Island has been twice previously attacked by the Japanese, the last attack having been made on May 11. Other operations in the south-west Pacific theatre yesterday were limited to reconnaissance.
