West and South of El Alamein AND AROUND RIDGE TAKEN FROM ENEMY HOPEFUL VIEW TAKEN BY CORRESPONDENTS (By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, July 5. In the Battle for Egypt fighting continued today at the tremendous pace which began five days ago. Operations are still confined to the west and south of El Alamein and about the ridge from which, today’s Cairo communique states, the enemy has been forced to withdraw.
