EXTENSION OF BRITISH SCHEME. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Juty 4. A further cutting down of essential goods is announced by the Board of Trade. There will also be an extension of the manufacture of utility articles at cheap prices.. Those goods that people must have will continue to be made, but only in sufficient quantity to meet undoubted requiiements. . Where practicable, utility designs will be introduced. This will be notably so with furniture, ana a committee is being appointed to draw up designs and advise on the manufacture of utility furniture. It is intended that by late autumn, utility designs shall be in production fo 1 ’ all essential articles of furniture at reasonable prices. Attention is also being given to pottery and cooking utensils. It is also intended to have utility suitcases, umbrellas, cutlery, towels, sheets, teacloths and cotton blankets.
