Y.M.C.A.
POPULAR centre; for SERVICEMEN. COMMUNITY SING APPRECIATED. The popularity of the Y.M.C.A. as a centre for soldiers, sailors and airmen was again demonstrated last night when the building was packed for the organised community sing which the servicemen greatly appreciate and for which there is an ever-increasing demand by a larger number of servicemen each week. The policy of the Y.M.C.A. authorities in encouraging these “sing-songs” and in making the soldiers, sailors and airmen so welcome at the hall is one which is highly commended by all those who have witnessed its beneficial effect. Last night an impromptu orchestra, including a soldier with a ukelele and an airman with a flute, with Miss M. Iveson at the piano, and assisted by “Our Gang” of girl entertainers, provided a couple of hours thorough enjoyment for those present, grateful thanks being expressed by the servicemen in connection therewith.
