STATE THEATRE
“TANKS A MILLION.” Headed by a cast of comedy luminaries including Jimmy Gleason, William Tracy, Noah Beery Junr, and Elyse Knox, the new Hal Roach streamliner, “Tanks a Million,” the laugh-filled story of Uncle Sam's draft army, will be shown tonight at the State Theate. The location site for “Tanks a Million” was Northbridge, California, where a working replica of a complete service encampment was established. Authentic in every detail, although of necessity telescoped in size, the camp was the produce of the Hal Roach studio technicians’ ingenuity. Through a huge wooden archway, past the receiving station, there were barracks, parade grounds,' mess hall and row upon row of tents —all reconstructed with utmost fidelity. “Tanks a Million” is one of the outstanding comedies of the year, and should not be missed by those who enjoy a good laugh in these strenuous times. Another excellent comedy, “Miss Polly,” featuring Slim Summerville and Zasu Pitts, will also be shown.
