EXPENDITURE IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) RUGBY, July 3. •The cost of British social services in the current year, it was stated by the Chancelor of the Exchequer (Sir Kingsley Wood) would be £231,700.000 Cf this total, old age contributory and supplementary pensions would account for £104,600,000, education for £68,000,000, Unemployment insurance and assistance, £31.500,000; housing subsidies, £18,500,000; and National Health Insurance £9,100,000. Not included in the total are allowances to dependents of men in the fighting services, war pensions and special war time measures, such as food subsidies and costs of evacuation.
