GOLF COMPETITION AT GUM GROVE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The lady members of the Golf Club played a stableford bogey on the Gum Grove links yesterday afternoon. The best scores were: —Mrs Batchelor, 36, 1; Mrs R. Donald, 23, 2; Miss M. Ruane, 22, 3. Personal Items. Mr H. Lawson has entered the Kelvin Hospital for treatment. Miss Ngaire Johns, Rotorua, and her brother, Private Allen Johns, Palmerston North, paid a visit to their home in Featherston during the week. Mr and Mrs Alan Burt, who had spent a holiday in Wellington and Masterton, have returned to their home in South Featherston. Euchre Party, There was a fair attendance at the Service Club’s euchre party held on Tuesday evening. Mrs Lowell was the winner. Motor Licences., The number of motor licences taken out in Featherston for the new period is 277, as against GBO last year. Rainfall for June. The rainfall in Featherston for June was 51 points as against 6.88 inches in the corresponding month last year. The heaviest fall in 24 hours in June was one point on the 2nd and Bth. Vital Statistics. There were 14 births, 3 marriages and 7 deaths in Featherston in June, the figures for the corresponding month last year being, 11 births, 5 deaths and 3 marriages. COSY THEATRE SPECIAL PROGRAMME. There will be a special'programme at the Cosy Theatre tomorrow night, headed by “The Penalty” (featuring Edward Arnold, Lionel Barrymore and Marsha Hunt), and “Strange Alibi” (starring Arthur Kennedy and Joan Perry).
