JT is hereby declared that until further notice a state of emergency exists in Greytown and District. Owners of all premises which have suffered structural damage are notified that before any damage will be permitted to be reinstated requisition must first be made at the Town Clerk’s Office, Main Street, setting out the nature of the damage. From requisitions handed in, priority will be given to work considered most urgent and instructions issued builders in order of priority. ■ WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY NOTICE OF INTENTION TO STRIKE RATES. is hereby given that it is the intention of the Wairarapa South County Council at its monthly meeting to be held on the 23rd day of July, 1942; at 10.30 a.m.., in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Counties Act, 1920 ; and the Amendments thereof, and by the Acts hereinafter respectively mentioned: FIRSTLY by Sections 51 to 59 inclusive of the Rating Act, 1925, to make and levy a GENERAL RATE of one penny and seven-eighths of a penny in the pound on all rateable values (being the unimproved values) of all rateable. property comprising the County of Wairarapa South. SECONDLY, by Section 52 of the Hospital and Charitable Act, 1926, and by Sections 51 to 59 inclusive of the Rating Act, 1925, for the purpose of paying the Council’s contribution to the Wairarapa Hospital , Board, to make and levy a SEPARATE RATE to be called a “Hospital Rate,” of three-farthings in the pound on all rateable values (being the unimproved values) of all rateable properties comprising the County of Wairarapa South. THIRDLY, by Section 45 of the WaterSupply Act, 1908, and Sections 51 to 59 inclusive of the Rating Act, 1925, for the purpose of maintaining and repairing the Taratahi Water-races, to make and levy a SEPARATE RATE to be called “Taratahi Water-race Maintenance Rate” of three-fifths of a penny in the pound on all rateable values (being the Capital Values) of all rateable properties comprising the Taratahi Water-race Special Rating Area. AND FOURTHLY, by Sections’ 45 of the Water Supply Act, 1908, and Sections 51 to 59 inclusive of the Rating Act, 1925, for the purpose of maintaining and repairing the Carrington Water-races to make and levy a SEPARATE RATE, to be called “Carrington Water-race Maintenance Rate,” of four-fifths of a penny in the pound on all rateable values (being the unimproved values) of all rateable properties comprising the Carrington Waterrace Special Rating Area. Also under the provision of the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, to collect as much as is required of each of the annual recurring special rates levied within the County of Wairarapa South to provide the annual charges on the loans raised. On all such General, Separate and Special Rates respectively to be for the period commencing April 1, 1942. and ending March 31, 1943, and to be payable in one sum on the 31st day of July, 1942, at the Office of the Wairarapa .South County Council, Memorial Square, Carterton.

The Valuation Rolls and Rate Books for the period mentioned are open for inspection at the County Office during Office Hours until 22nd day of July, 1942. Notice is hereby given that the Council has resolved to allow every ratepayer a rebate of five per centum on the General Rate payable by him provided such rate and all arrears are paid before the expiration of 30 days from the due date thereof.
