AUSTRALIAN DESTROYER
I LOST IN MEDITERRANEAN. ONLY THREE MEN KILLED & ONE SERIOUSLY INJURED. (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, June 29. The loss of the Australian destroyer Nestor in the Mediterranean has been announced by the Minister foi e Navy, Mr Makin. The ship was sunk while acting as escort to a Mediterranean convoy during the fierce naval and air actions on June 15. Of the Nestoi complement of more than 200 on y three were killed and one seriously m iiiTGd • The Nestor was one of the Javelin class destroyers. She was commissioned in February, 1941, being manned y Australians under the command ot Commander Alford S. Rosenthal, D. 5.0.. and had taken part m ma y operations. She was of 1690 tons displacement, and had a speed o knots. Her armament comprised six 4.7 guns, six smaller guns and 10 21in. tor-pedo-tubes.
