SHIP ABLAZE

BRAVE EFFORTS BY AUSTRALIAN FIREMEN. VESSEL SUNK BESIDE WHARF. (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, June 29. After 70 firemen had fought desperately for seven hours to put out a fire on a ship at an Australia?! port, the seacocks of the vessel were opened and the ship, sank beside the wharf. The plates of the ship were white hot when she sank, but firemen risked their lives to remove much inflammable material. Fuel oil was ablaze and there were occasional dull detonations from minor explosions. It is believed that the ship and much of her valuable cargo can be salvaged.
