LOST BY CHINESE
LAST REMAINING AIR BASE IN CHEKIANG FIGHTING CONTINUES NEAR AT HAND. 1 GAINS & LOSSES ELSEWHERE. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright,! CHUNGKING, June 27. A Chinese communique admits the abandonment of Lishui, where the Chinese are said to have had their last remaining air base in Chekiang Province. Fighting is continuing on the outskirts of the town. The casualties are heavy on both sides. The Japanese have recaptured Kweiki, reducing the Chinese portion of the Kiangsi-Chekiang railway to 50 miles. The Japanese at Linckwan, after suffering heavy losses, advanced
southward and eastward, but the Chinese are stemming the drives. On the Honan front heavy fighting is continuing with increasing ferocity at the foot of the Taiheng Mountains. The Chinese have recovered numerous height* south of Linhsien.
