TREMENDOUS BANG
EXPLOSION OF ENEMY AMMUNITION SHIP. DESTROYED BY BRITISH SUBMARINE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 27. The sinking of a 700-ton ammunition ship, which was torpedoed in moonlight and blew up with a terrific explosion, is reported by a British submarine on its return to base from a patrol in the Mediterranean. Members of the submarine’s crew said, it was “the biggest bang” they had ever heard. The submarine also torpedoed a heavily-laden ship of 2500 tons bound for Libya and heard it break up. Later a large transport carrying troops to Libya, which had been attacked by British aircraft, was sighted burning fiercely and was obviously a total loss. The submarine was at one time hunted by a destroyer and aircraft, but she eluded both. \
