SERVICE CLUB ENJOYABLE EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) * An enjoyable time was spent at the Service Club by those who attended the euchre party. The first prize was won by Mrs A. W. Edwards with Mrs W. Mellish second. ■ FIRE AT SCHOOL LITTLE DAMAGE DONE. The Fire Brigade received a call yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock to a fire which had broken out at Chilton St James School, Underhill Road. The brigade quickly suppressed the outbreak and little damage was done.

A Lucky Owner. A local racehorse owner who recently won a £35 trophy in the form of a 72-piece dinner service, which he received on Wednesday, placed it on a dinner wagon. While most of the articles in the room were smashed the wagon and its contents escaped damage. Personal items. Mr and Mrs G. Warrington, of Pahautea, are visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs Nikolaison have returned home from a visit to relatives in Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs V. F. Wood are spending a holiday at Dannevirke. Miss Joan Pope has returned to her home after a visit to Nelson. Mrs R. Skipage has returned from a visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs Brydon, Otaki. She also visited Hastings where she was the guest of her sister. Miss Agnes Hector has returned to Wellington from a visit to her home in Pahautea. Private W. G. Juno is spending leave at his home at Pahautea. Golf. A medal round was played by the ladies on Gum Grove links. The best cards were: —Mrs Elbe, 76; Mrs Batchelor, 78; Mrs Donald, 80; Mrs Pope, 89. COSY THEATRE “CAUGHT IN THE DRAFT.” Tonight’s programme will be headed by the splendid army comedy, “Caught in the D’raft,” featuring Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour.
