CARTERTON

POPULAR RESIDENTS FAREWELLED AT BELVEDERE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the Belvedere schoolroom last evening when Mr and Mrs Tragmar and family, who have resided in the district for some considerable time and who will shortly leave for Wellington, were tendered a farewell social gathering. Dancing was indulged in and at a suitable interval Mr A. E. Reid referred to’ the regret of the residents of the district at the pending departure of Mr and Mrs Tragmar. He wished them the best of luck and health in the future. He presented a leather suitcase to Mr Tragmar, glassware to Mrs Tragmar, while the other members of the family received gifts. Mr Tragmar suitably thanked the residents for their kindness. The music was supplied by Mrs. Rogers, of Dalefield, and extras were played by Mr Morris (accordion). Mr A. E. Reid was an efficient M.C. Supper was provided and a most enjoyable gathering was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Personal Items. Mr and Mrs L. H. Smart, who spent a holiday in Hamilton, returned to Carterton yesterday. Mr Smart, oh hearing, of the damage which had been done to the P. and A. Society’s building by the earthquake, hurried home. Mr A. Brown, of Hawera, is a visitor to Carterton. Mrs W. E. Knowles, of Belvedere, returned home yesterday afternoon after a visit to Eketahuna.
