OBITUARY

— MRS MARY CARLSON. The death occurred at Masterton last night of an old and highly respected Wairarapa settler in the person of Mrs Mary Carlson. She was born in Denmark 73 years ago and arrived in New Zealand when two years old, her parents, Mr and Mrs F. Olson, settling in the South Wairarapa shortly afterwards. Fifty-five years ago she married Mr Charles Carlson, a pioneer settler of the Kaituna’ district. Her husband pre-deceased her 40 years ago. She is survived by three daughters (Mesdames Falloon, Lower Hutt, McAliece, Masterton, and Crew, Masterton. There will be a private cremation on Monday morning at Karori.
