GUERILLA TRAINING
EXPANSION IN AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 26. A rapid expansion of guerilla training in the Australian Army to help it to form the spearhead of offensive operation will soon be undertaken. Already volunteers are being called for in all units of the Army to attend a special guerilla training school for several weeks. No limit has been placed on the number of volunteers, but they must be over 20 and under 35, intelligent, active, medically fit, with a liking for physical training, personal combat and rough-and-tumble tactics. They must be willing to take some physical risk outside that usually taken by personnel serving in fighting units. Before they attend the special school they will have at least three months’ preliminary military training. At the guerilla school, the course will include field craft, night operations, unarmed com'bat, the use of all weapons, explosives, demolition work, booby traps, raids, riding, swimming and other athletic undertakings.
