SINKING CONFIRMED

ENEMY MERCHANT SHIP IN MEDITERRANEAN ANOTHER VESSEL HIT. PROBABLY DESTROYER AS WELL.. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) - RUGBY, June 23. There is now conclusive evidence that the enemy merchant vessel reported sunk in the Mediterranean by torpedo aircraft on Sunday was actually sunk. Another merchant ship was hit and an escorting destroyer probably hit. Three enemy planes were destroyed and one damaged. Three R.A.F. planes did not return.
