REGENT THEATRE
“BIRTH OF THE BLUES.” Probably no screen star of the present time has a greater right than Bing Crosby to the leading role in such a melange of music, old and new a “Birth of the Blues,” the miisical co medy to be shown at the Regent Th tre tonight. There is a strong flavour of “Alexander’s Ragtime Band about the production, for in much the same way as “ragtime music super seded the orthodox m ** “blues” are shown coming to the io as the basis of much in Bing Crosby finds his role a pioneer in “blue” music much to his liking “d n cap“ity, and with Mary Mar nj. Brian Donlevy, Rochester, and Jack Teagarden and his band, keeps Sow going with a swing throughout There is an excellent array of short subjects.
