IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. SUBSTANTIAL DECREASES SHOWN (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Substantial decreases in both exports and imports are shown in the overseas trade figures for April, released yesterday by the Customs Department. For the four months of 1942, exports show a small increase, and imports a slightly greater one. The figure for the 10 months of the production year, which opens on July 1, show increases for both exports and imports, the import increase being the greater. Exports during April totalled £3,919,000 compared with £5,561,000 in April, 1941, a decrease of £1,642,000. Imports for the month amounted to £3,238,000, compared with £3,859,000 in April, 1941, a decrease of £621,000. For the month there was an excess of exports over imports of £681,000, against £1,702,000 in April 1941, a decrease of £1,021,000. For the four months of 1942, exports totalled £24,741,000, compared with £24,700,000 for the same period of 1941, an increase of £41,000. Imports for the four months were £13,639,000, against £12,838,000 during the 1941 year, an increase of £BOl,OOO. The favourable trade balance for the four months 'was £11,102,000, against £11,862,000 in 1941, a decrease of £760,000,
