ATTACKED BY BRITISH PLANES SIX ENEMY AIRCRAFT SHOT DOWN. ONE BRITISH MACHINE LOST DURING MINELAYING. LONDON, June 22. Northern France and the Belgian coast were swept by the R.A.F. this afternoon. Boston bombers, escorted by fighters, attacked the docks at Dunkirk and an enemy airfield. All our planes returned. Last night our planes laid mines in enemy waters. One did not return.. Fighters raided airfields and railways in the Low Countries and Northern France. Two enemy bombers were shot down over their bases and two more off the coast of England. Southampton had a sharp raid last evening. Some damage was done in a short attack on Southampton, but there were few casualties. A later Air Ministry communique states that four enemy aircraft were destroyed off the south coast of England and two over their own airfields. ABOUT TWELVE KILLED IN ENGLISH COAST TOWN. SHELTERS HIT BY BOMBS. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 22. About twelve people were killed in a raid on a south-east coast town early in the morning and a search is going on for others buried in shelters, which were directly hit. Six occupants of one shelter, including two children and their parents, were among the victims. A young married couple were found lying dead together in another shelter. A bomb directly hit a shelter, on the outskirts of the town, containing twelve people, only one of whom was fatally injured, although some others were injured.
