JAPANESE STRATEGY

ATTACK ON SIBERIA IN JULY FORETOLD BY CHINESE AUTHORITIES. CONCENTRATION ON OPERATIONS NEAR HOME. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) CHUNGKING, June 19. High Chinese quarters assert that fresh private information convinces them that Japan intends to strike against Siberia some time in July, and that the Japanese General Staff prefers to postpone attempts at further conquests in the south in favour of strategy affecting territory closer to Japan. The Associated Press of America says this is probably one of the farreaching effects of the American bombing of Tokio on April 18 and adds, if events force a further change of plans, Japan is expected to stage an all-out drive against China before American striking power becomes a decisive factor.
