A conference of the National Federation of News Agents, Booksellers, and Stationers in London, adopted a resolution against merging the daily newspapers. The resolution declared that any proposal for publishing a single national newspaper on the excuse of newsprint shortage or for further reduction of existing newspapers should be strongly opposed. A free and varied Press should be maintained to help to fight any weakening of the war effort or anything that might militate against national morale.
