SOME RECENT ESCAPES. IN HAZARDOUS FIGHTING. (Special Correspondent.) LONDON, June 17. Sergeant A. McPherson, Roxburgh, was shot down in flames over the English Channel recently, but bailed out sai'elv. He dived with his flight against two Focke-Wulfs which apparently were a decoy for 20 ocners. They swooped down six attacking Sergeant McPherson and setting his aircraft on fire. He jumped, and after falling several thousand feet landed in the Channel 150 yards from another pilot of his squadron. They paddled together till picked up by a launch. Pilot Officer J. Damon. Wellington; also bailed out safely recently.
