The political correspondent of the “Daily Express” says that the miners have won the battle for better wages. A report on their demands for an increase of 4s a shift and a minimum of £4 5s a week, which is now in the Government’s hands, recommends a substantial increase in wages throughout the country. The Government is prepared to agree. The cost of conceding the full demands is estimated to be £40,000,000.
