HERD TESTING VALUE EMPHASISED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The value of herd testing is being recognised by farmers throughout the district, and is emphasised by the increased supplies of milk and by the improved quality obtained by those dairy farmers who have had their cows tested. In the Gladstone and Dalefield districts the results are very satisfactory to those wise farmres who have eliminated the “boarder” and “robber” cow. RUGBY FOOTBALL SATURDAY’S GAMES. Two games of considerable interest to supporters of Rugby football will be played on Saturday next. At the Featherston recreation ground R.M.T. will meet A.S..C. Admission will be: Men, Is; ladies, 6d. At Carterton, on the newly formed ground at the rear of the Royal Oak Hotel, Carterton, will play a 2nd Wellington fifteen. A collection will be taken up at the gate. The Carterton A grade team to play Wairarapa College on Saturday will be chosen from the following: Berry, Rayner, Phillips, Parker’ (3), Catt, Walsh, Workman, Goodin, Smith, Thomas, McPhee (2), Quinn, and O’Berg. Personal Items. A very enjoyable gathering took place at the Dalefield Dairy Company s building, Carterton, last 'evening, when a number of citizens entertained Aircraftman J. V. Gustofson, who is on leave from military duties. The Mayor, Mr D. L. Taverner, presided,, and asked Aircraftman Gustofson to accept a small gift from the citizens and wishing him the best of luck. Aircraftman Gustofson suitably returned thanks. Another Frost. The third successive heavy frost this week! was experienced in Carterton today. In some cases yesterday water pipes remained frozen all day. Hockey. The Carterton team to play Sincerity at Carterton on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. will be: Verna Merwood, Audrey Williams, Rilma Hopkins, Margaret Potter, Ngarie Williams, Marie Campbell, Dulcie George, Beth Lindop, Betty Parker, Beryl Matson, Lola Hopkins.
