RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. MEETING IN CARTERTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr K. G. Fairbrother presided over a meeting o£ the Management Cornmittee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union held in Carterton last evening. There were also present Messrs C. A. Gray, F. B. Brough, M. Fly, S. Henson, K. H. Reid,' G. Udy, R. Howard and tne secretary (Mr H. A. McPhee). The treasurer reported a credit balance of £l3 13s lid. A Red Star player, T. Childs, was reported by Mr B. Hurley, a referee, in a recent match, for indiscriminate kicking. It was decided that the player be given a warning. K. Abbott was granted a reinstatement from Masterton B to Wairarapa College. It was resolved that the game Red Star v Carterton, which was not played last Saturday owing to a misunderstanding, take place on a future date. A letter was received from Mr P. A. Cole, secretary of the Carterton District Patriotic Committee, stating that a patriotic football match would be played on the Carterton Showgrounds on Saturday, June 27, between a team from the Army and a Wairarapa team, and that Mr K. Reid had been asked to select the Wairarapa team. It was resolved that the secretary write to Mr Steel with a view to securing his ground for Army games. Mr W. Grantham wrote complaining that at a recent game he had made a call for the ambulance and that in the meantime the coach of one team and the spectators crowded on to the field. He had ordered them from the field of play and asked the assistance of the committee in such matters. It was resolved that only the players, the referee, the ambulance men or’ a doctor be allowed on the field of play on the occasion of an accident. It was decided that the committee meet once l a month in future and that the next meeting be held on Wednesday, July 15.
