TOJO’S BOAST
JAPAN READY TO FIGHT FOR 100 YEARS. TALK TO VISITING CHILEANS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.25 p.m.) LONDON. June 16. The Tokio official radio said the Primo Minister, General Tojo, told Chilean journalists, who are shortly departing for home, that Japan hopes to pursue her friendly relations with Chile, promising that Japan will not subject Chile to the ravages of war. He added that Japan was prepared to fight even for a hundred years until final victory was won and all enemies crushed. Although Chile has not severed relations with the Axis, there are recent indications that Chile plans to abandon neutrality as a result of the United States’ victories in the Pacific, says a Washington report.
