STRUCK BY TRAIN

ELDERLY MAN KILLED. JOHNSONVILLE FATALITY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Feeling a bump as his train neared the entrance to the Johnsonville yard on Saturday night the driver of the 5.55 p.m. multiple unit from Wellington stopped the train, to discover the body of an elderly man lying on the track where the train had passed. The man was Henry Richard Hunt, aged 77, an inmate of Central Park men’s hospital. The accident occurred at a place where there is good visibility for drivers, and where the trains slow down for passing through the points, yet it is believed the driver saw nothing on the track. It is thought that Mr Hunt x may have been walking alongside the line when he was struck by the train.
