RUBBER SHORTAGE
SERIOUS IN UNITED STATES. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) WASHINGTON, June 11. The Under-Secretary for War, Mr Patterson, told, the Senate Banking Committee that the armed forces faced a possible shortage of 200,000 tons of rubber' in 1943. The Army and Navy requirements during 21 months would be 200,000 tons, and reserves were only 800,000 tons. Mr Patterson said that the estimate was made after every possible economy, including removing rubber from tank tracks.
