AT GREAT GOST

CHUHSIEN CAPTURED BY JAPANESE 1 KEY CITY AND AIRPORT IN CHEKIANG. 18,000 ENEMY CASUALTIES IN TEN-DAY BATTLE. LONDON, June 12. The Japanese have taken Chuhsien, an important city and airport in Chekiang. The cost of its capture has been enormous. A Chungking communique states that in the ten days’ battle 18,000 casualties were inflicted on the Japanese. Since the invasion of Chekiang began it has been apparent that the enemy was determined at any cost to neutralise the possibility of Japanese cities being bombed by planes with bases in Chekiang.
