Frosts in Masterton.

Masterton experienced two frosts over the weekend, one o£ 9.8 degrees being registered on Sunday morning and another of 9.6 degrees this morning. Christian Order. Next Sunday the national campaign for Christian order will be introduced to the public of Wanganui when addresses will be given in the Opera House and Majestic Theatre by the Bishop of Wellington, Rt. Rev. H. St. Brbe Holland, and Mr H. Wadman, Wellington, of the Society of Friends. A procession of witness of the Church will be held before the meeting, and Home Guard and military units will take part. An area committee with the Rev A. C. McLean as chairman is in charge of arrangements, and the Rev H. Datson, formerly of Masterton, is in charge of the-parade. United Nations Day. United Nations Day is to be observed in New Zealand next Saturday, when military parades on the largest scale so far organised in this country will be held in the larger centres. Units of all the services will take part, and the public will have the opportunity of seeing the latest types of machines and weapons brought to the Dominion for the strengthening of its defences. “Flag Day, which is held in the United States on June 14,” said the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, on Saturday, “is; the day on which the American people honour their flag as the emblem of their freedom, strength, and unity, and this year the American people have been invited by President Roosevelt to honour also the flags of those States who signed the United Nations’ Declaration of January 1, 1942. Suitable arrangements are being made for ceremonies for this purpose to be held on June 14 throughout the' United Kingdom and in other portions of the British Commonwealth.
