STATE THEATRE
“THE SAINT MEETS THE TIGER.” “The Saint Meets the Tiger,” will be finally shown tonight. “THE NEAREST THING TO HEAVEN.” Tomorrow night’s change at the State Theatre will be headed by the brilliantly acted and presented comedydrama, “The Nearest Thing to Heaven.” The picture has many special features which will appeal to those picture lovers who have fastidious tastes. The interest is held throughout the many enjoyable scenes and there are situations which call for a very high standard of acting and in which those who take part make the most of the characters which they portray. There are many humorous scenes and altogether it is an offering which can be thoroughly recommended. Those who appreciate good pictures should not miss “The Nearest Thing to Heaven.” The chief roles in this smart musical romance are in the hands of Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer, who with Les Bowman and Maurice Moscovitch are seen and heard at their best. Irene Dunne sings with great effect “Wishing” and “Sing My Heart.” There is an excellent supporting programme.
