AXIS & FINLAND
UNITED STATES KEEPING CLOSE WATCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WASHINGTON. June 6. “Hitler’s visit to Finland is a desperate attempt to bring Finland farther into the Axis military campaign and compromise her further in the eyes of the anti-Axis world,” said the Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, at a Press conference. “Washington is still watching very closely whether Hitler’s visit results in increased co-operation by Finland and the Axis against the Allies.” A Finnish spokesman stated that Finland continued a strictly independent course and wished to retain American friendship.
