GOAL IN SIGHT
LIBERTY LOAN LITTLE OVER £200,000 REQUIRED. ■FURTHER LARGE APPLICATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Liberty Loan, which will close today, only requires £235,800 to make up the full amount, £15,000,000. A total of £1,146,000 was subscribed yesterday, according to a report from the Reserve Bank, and there were some returns still to come, so it would appear reasonably certain, that the loan will be fully subscribed with something to spare. Large applications reported yesterday include: Blue Star Line Ltd., £25,000; Wellington Harbour Board, £60,000; Wellington Repertory Theatre (Inc.), £500; Self Help Ltd., £2,000; Woolworths (N.Z.), Ltd., £lO,OOO. The council of the New Zealand Golf Association, at its monthly meeting last night, decided to invest £5OO. The council invested £ 1000 in the last New Zealand war loan. Each of the five divisions of the New Zealand National Party yesterday subscribed £250 to the loan, making £1250 in all.
