MILLION MURDERED

FATE OF YUGOSLAVS. The statement that over 1,000,000 Yugoslavs have been murdered by their German oppressors is made in the latest issue of the United Front, the bulletin of the Auckland Slavonic Council. There is one country in Europe where the real war did not stop with the occupation of its territory, says this bulletin. Everybody knows the fate and the submission of those countries which suffered a military defeat, but Yugoslavia has the distinction of fighting a full-scale war on its occupied territory. From the first day of occupation the Germans and Italians took control of the communications, towns and industries, but,the peasants remained in their villages. There were not enough Nazis and their henchmen to occupy every nook and cranny of Yugoslavia. Germany’s attack on Russia was a signal for a general renewal of war operations by the Yugoslavs. According to latest reports a regular Yugoslav Government has been established again in the mountains and really governs the countryside.
