VIOLENT FIGHTING
IN THE KALININ SECTOR NAZIS TRYING TO IMPROVE POSITIONS. LARGE-SCALE OPERATIONS EXPECTED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) RUGBY, June 2. The latest reports from Moscow of fighting on the Eastern front speak of a continued lull in operations on the Kharkov and Isyum fronts, except for local clashes. A series of violent encounters, on the other hand, is said to be raging on the Kalinin front, where the Germans are believed to, be seeking more advantageous positions before massing their forces for the launching of large-scale operations.
