WASTE PAPER
CAMPAIGN IN MASTERTON. CHURCH STREET DEPOT OPEN. Active steps are now being taken in Masterton to carry out a paper-saving campaign. A depot is now established in the "Daily Times" building in Church Street, where supplies of waste paper may be left. The Masterton Borough Council intends to approach business firms in town with a view to the adoption of a concerted campaign to save waste paper. It is also proposed to attach a trailer to the borough rubbish truck for collecting paper from householders who have no other means of conveying the paper to the depot. It is of interest to know exactly what can be made out of waste paper. An indication is given below: 1 newspaper, 3 25 pounder shell cups; 1 popular magazine, 2 mine interior components; 6 old books, 1 mortar shell carrier; 1 soap powder canister, 4 aero engine gaskets; 5 medium sized cartons, 1 ■ shell fuse; 60 large cigarette cartons, 1 outer shell container; 20 breakfast cereal cartons, 1 ease for 3 pounder shells; 6 old bills, 1 washer for a shell; 4 assorted food cartons, 1 box of aero-cannon shells; 1 old envelope, 1 cartridge wad; 12 old letters, 1 box for rifle cartridges.
