Though it just managed to beat the rainfall record by a couple of points that, fell on Sunday, the May just gone was easif?/ the most sunless ever experienced in Wellington. Hours of sunshine totalled 66.5 against a normal of 130.4. Rain fell on 22 days, registering 11.85 inches, against the normal 4.16 inches. Six gales made it the second windiest May recorded. Temperatures were practically normal, being on an average 52 degrees against the normal 51.4.
