SALE AT FEILDING ADVANCE IN FAT SHEEP PRICES. GOOD ENQUIRY FOR DAIRY CATTLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ‘ FEILDING, May 29. Fat sheep prices showed some advance at •the stock sale today, but, despite this, there were substantial passings as it is expected there will be further advances within a few weeks. There was a fair inquiry for store sheep, including ewes in lamb, of which a small offering was available. A good inquiry was made for dairy cattle with an increasing number on sale. Dairy-farmers weie feeling the market both locally and farther afield. . . , Run cattle: The market was fairly good especially for grown cattle. Fat cattle: "he market was well catered for. Prime ox and heifer made to 32 per 1001 b. Prices: Fat ewes, prime, 20s Id and up to Is per head on last week: good, 16s 7d. 17s lOd; light, from Ils lOd: prime maiden ewes, 25s lOcl; prime wethers, 32s lOd (up 2s); good. 27s 4d. 28s 6d: others, from 21s lOd; prime black faces, 32s lOd; good, to 29s lOd, prime lambs. 26s lOd. „ Stere sheep: Wether lambs, 12s lOd to 17s 2d; black faces, 12s lOd; ewe lambs. 27s Id to 27s 6d; two-tooth ewes, 27s to 28s lOd; four to six-tooth, to 28s: two and four-tooth. 30s Id; five-year, 20s 9d; fat and forward wethers, 26s lOd. CARTERTON SALE LATE RATES MAINTAINED. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday:—A small yarding of sheep, pigs and a good yarding of cattle came forward. Prices were on a par with late rates and a total clearance was effected. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep: Fat lambs, 22s 3d to 235; fat 2-ths., to 25s lOd; medium ewe lambs, to 16s; medium wether lambs, 14s to 15s lOd; small m.s. lambs, to 9s; cull ewes, to 5s 6d; small b.f. lambs, to Ils 9d. Cattle: Jersey cows on drop, £lO to £11; Jersey cows in milk, £5 5s to £6 ss; springing cows, £4 15s to £6; Jersey heifers, r.w.b., to £5 2s 6d; fat P.A. heifers, £7 12s 6d to £9 14s; fat P.A. cows, to £8; fat Jersey cows, £5, £5 ss. £5 15s to £6; forward cows, £3 17s 6d, £4 2s, £4 10s to £4 17s; store cows. £2, £2 15s, £3 2s, £3 5s to £3 10s; cows and calves, £4 16s to £7; empty heifers, to £3 7s Gd; fat heifers, £5 2s 6d to £5 10s; Jersey steers, £3 15s, £5, £6 5s to £7.
