LIBERTY LOAN
NEW ZEALAND EFFORT ANOTHER BIG DAY. OVER £12,000,000 SUBSCRIBED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Reserve Bank reported last night that yesterday had been another very big day all over New Zealand for subscriptions to the Liberty Loan, and the total, with a few small returns still to come, was £12,328,770. Yesterday’s takings totalled £1,788,000. Large subscriptions reported included: —London and Lancashire Insurance, £5000; State Fire Insurance Office, £25,000; L. Evans and Co., Ltd., £5000; . South British Insurance Co., £50,000; National Tobacco Co., £10,000; Dominion Life Assurance of N.Z., Ltd., £20,000; Caltex, Ltd, £10,000; 8.A.L.M., £5000; Smith and Smith, Ltd., £lO,OOO.
AUCKLAND SUBSCRIPTIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 29. An additional £150,000 was subscribed by the Auckland Savings Bank trustees at a special meeting today, to the Liberty Loan, making the bank’s total subscription £350,000. With an objective of £2,000,000, Auckland up to last night had subscribed £1,074,176 to the loan.
