POWER BOARD
ANNUAL MEETING LIBERTY LOAN INVESTMENT. MR C. PEARCE RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board was continued yesterday afternoon at Carterton. On the motion of Mr Daniell seconded by Mr Tate, it was decided ’’that the sum of £2OOO be allocated for country power extensions, this sum to be invested in Liberty Loans unless the funds are required to meet losses or other- expenditure by the war.” The chairman’s honorarium was fix-z--ed at £l5O, The meeting passed a vote of thanks to those persons who had allowed their business premises to be used for the storage of power board material. The Wairarapa Hospital Board wrote regarding the supply of power to the Lansdowne school, when used as a temporary hospital. Mr F. C. Daniell said that the work had been completed. Mr Brown said that the board had not been consulted until the work had been carried out and stated that there was no need for the extra power asked for.
It was decided on the motion of Mr Shepherd seconded by Mr Holmes, that the Secretary-Manager write to the Hospital Board on the matter. The chairman referred to the excellent service which the engineer had given the board during the past year. Mr Campbell Pearce was re-elected chairman.
Messrs Booth, Hugo _and the chairman were re-elected a committee.
