LIBERTY LOAN
£10,000,000 MARK PASSED OVER MILLION SUBSCRIBED YESTERDAY. MANY LARGE INVESTMENTS. IBy Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Reserve Bank announced last night that Liberty Loan applications lodged throughout New Zealand yesterday numbered 2126 for amounts totalling £1,122,120, which brought the total amount subscribed to £10,540,360. Large applications reported include: Wellington City Council, £100,000; Vacuum Oil Co., £12,000; Williams and Kettle, £10,000; Wright, Stephenson, a further £5000; Hancock and Co., Ltd., £10,000; Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Co., a further £5000; Sargood Son and Ewen, £35,000; J. C. Williamson Picture Corp., Ltd., £5000; Thomson, Lewis and Co., £10,000; Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, £50,000. HARBOUR BOARD CONTRIBUTION. GOVERNMENT MUST HAVE MONEY. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 28. The Auckland Harbour Board, at a special meeting today, decided to contribute another £50,000 to the Liberty Loan, making £75,000. The chairman said that the people must not be found wavering at this juncture; all must realise it was essential for the Government to have the money if the war was to be won.
