RATIONING SCHEME
SOME QUESTIONS AWAITING DETERMINATION MATTER OF CURRENT ORDERS. > SOME SAVING UP OF COUPONS PERMITTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Questions relating to the application of the rationing scheme were answered by the Controller, Mr Thomas, who said that although coupons are transferable as between the members of a family, they are not transferable as between other individuals. The coupons unused at the end of the first six months will be negotiable foi’ the second period. This will enable coupons to be saved for such a purpose as a suit or costume. The question whether the system shall apply to suits and costumes already ordered has not been determined finally and is being considered. In regard to whether the system will apply to hotels, institutions, etc., for household linen, these were collective consumers and would work under a special arrangements. As they bought most of their requirements wholesale, it would be necessary for them to obtain special permits. A statement covering collective consumers will be issued later.
