A curt reply was given by the Prime Minister to ; General Tojo’s threat to Australia. “In Australia we play Test matches to a finish. He (Tojo) started this game,” Mr Curtin said. Addressing the Japanese Diet, the Prime Minister, General Tojo, said that Australia must reconsider her attitude and take part in the construction of greater East Asia or suffer the onslaught of the Japanese forces. “It is Japan’s inflexible determination,” General Tojo added, “never to sheathe the sword till the influence of the AngloAmerican Powers, with their dream of world domination, is completely uprooted.”
