ATTEMPT TO KILL HEYDRICH FAILS SAVAGE MEASURES OF REPRISAL OFFER OF BIG REWARD. CONSCRIPTION OF YOUTH FOR WAR SERVICE. Berlin announced that Heydrich (the so-called Protector of Bohemia and Moravia), who was wounded in an attempt against his' life in Prague, is now out of danger. The Prague radio says that a state of emergency has been proclaimed throughout the Protectorate. The reward being offered for the capture of Heydrich’s assailants is equivalent to between £60,000 and £70,000 at the pre-war exchange rate. Anyone aiding the assailants will be shot with his whole family. No civilians are permitted to leave their houses tonight between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. All bars and places of amusement must close. Transport is stopped. Heydrich a fortnight ago was appointed Gestapo Commissar-General of Occupied Territories. He toured Paris, Brussels and The Hague to see that the security service was working satisfactorily. According to the Prague radio, Heydrich has notified the Protectorate Government of a pending reconstruction of the administration of Bohemia and Moravia, in accordance with Hitler’s decree. The natpre of the decree has not yet been announced. Heydrich also told the Czech Ministers that Czech youth would shortly be conscripted for war service.
