PARK CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Owing to the boisterous weather there was only a fair attendance of members at the annual meeting held in the Y.M.C.A. at which Mr Burke presided-Apologies for absence were received from several membeis who were laid aside with illness or were engaged in defence work. Mr Kilgour paid a tribute to the president for his untiring efforts under trying circumstances during the year, and for such a comprehensive report; to the hon, treasurer for a splendid balance sheet that evinced careful administration, and to the hon, secretary, who had carried out his duties in a capable manner. Mr Jenkins, in endorsing the above remarks, stated that the club was continuing to prosper through the good fellowship that existed amongst the members, and their willingness to assist on all occasions. After a continuous service on the committee over a period of 27 years, Mr Kilgoui expressed a desire to retire from, active participation in administrative affairs, but, he said, he would be always willing to give what assistance he could to the club. The president expressed the club’s sincere thanks to Mr Kilgour for his lengthy and valued assistance. These remarks were endorsed by Mr Leigh and members generally. The president, in presenting the various trophies, expressed his pleasure that in them was incorporated the recently designed club badge. The various winners were:—Championship singles, H. Carr; championship pairs, R. Wallace 'and A. Kilgour (s); championship fours, P. Trevorrow, T. B. Braggins, E. Brown, H. Smith (s); Spademan Cup, P. Thompson; Thompson Cup, P. Trevorrow. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President and hon. treasuier, Mr A. Osborne; vice-president and hon. secretary Mr H. M. Smith; hon. auditor, Mr A. Wiltshire; selector, Mr H. Carr; committee, Messrs R. Jenkins, W. Winhall, E. Burke, W. Ferguson, C. Andrews, W. Drummond; official coach, Mr W. Gibson. It was unanimously decided that Liberty Bonds to the value of £25 be purchased, thus bringing the club’s investments in War Loans up to. £75. After considerable discussion the' rule relating to honorary members and their privileges was amended in accordance with the notice of motion, but the subscriptions of playing, members were unaltered. ■Mr J7C. Ewington sponsored the instituting of a veterans’ competition, for which he generously offered to subscribe towards a suitable trophy. This matter was left in the hands of the committee to arrange in conference with the sponsor. It was. decided to purchase a New Zealand Ensign, and a trophy to be known as the F. Davies Memorial Trophy; The club championship games will be played under the same rules as existed last season. ’ Messrs Kilgour and Gibson were elected a sub-committee to prepare historical records of the various club trophies, and it was decided that the records of all games played for these should be entered in appropriate booklets.
The retiring president was presented with a past president’s badge, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the outgoing committee and all those, especially Mr T. Newton, who had so readily given their services during the past season.
