SPITFIRES IN ACTION

ENEMY MINE-SWEEPER SET ON FIRE ATTACK ON RAILWAY TARGETS IN FRANCE. ONE PLANE LOST BUT PILOT RESCUED. LONDON, May 26. Spitfires of the Fighter Command attacked enemy shipping off the Belgian coast and targets in Occupied France today. In the attack on shipping the planes swooped down on an enemy minesweeper, which was set on fire. Spitfires swept across the French coast, but were not engaged by the enemy. They went down to attack targets on the railway system. One aircraft did not get back, but the pilot was rescued by a trawler. Three enemy planes made a sharp raid on a coastal town in the south of England this afternoon. Some damage was caused. Only one person was injured.
