WAIRARAPA COMPETITIONS.

A & B GRADE CONTESTS.

The Wairarapa Rugby Union’s competition matches were continued on Saturday afteinoon. „ . . There was a fair attendance of spectatois on the football ground at Carrington Park, Carterton, where the Carterton A grade team was too good for Featherston and won by 24 points to 5. Mr P. Reed was the referee. An A grade match was also played at Rugby Park, Masterton defeating College by 6 points to nil after a good game. There was a fail- attendance of the public to witness the game between Masterton and College A. For Masterton Major and Dewar kicked a penalty goal each. Masterton held a superiority in the forwards and College m the backs-. For College Welch, Hemi and Hourigan in the backs and Beecroft and Orr in the forwards played well. For Masterton Simonsen, Broughton and Mangham were the pick of an even pack while Woolletts and Wilton were the best of the backs. Mr Wyeth, of Wellington, acted as referee. In a B grade match played at Rugby Park, Masterton, Red Star beat Wairarapa College by 25 points to 6. The Carterton B grade team defeated Masterton, at Carterton, after a fairly even game by 11 points to 3. Mr L. Berry refereed the game.
