WORST FAMINE IN HISTORY IN EUROPE. AMERICAN ESTIMATE OF FOOD SUPPLIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, May 24. The Department of Agriculture announced that Europe’s food supplies and prospects have been brought to unprecedently low levels by the worst winter in memory and by an ensuing chill spring and a drought. The report indicated the possibility of one of the worst famines in history, with hunger throughout the Continent.
